Cartoons… Yay!

Sorry! (cough) … I meant … “Animation Yay!” The UK’s longest-running and biggest animation festival is back, Bradford Animation Festival, (10th -14th Nov. National Media Museum) with a packed diary of animation and special events. As well as screening feature films, (Up. in 3D, Fantastic Mr Fox and Coraline).  There are a number of films battling it out in competition for BAF 09 Awards in various classes. (Professional, Student, Short, Music Video and Best Film for Children… Noticed that Oliver Jeffers’, lovely little book “Lost and Found” has been made animated and must surely be a contender in the children’s film category.

There’s also a whole raft of film’s playing, out of competition , just for the sheer joy of it, set up as “film compendiums” or “panorama’s” on Wednesday and Friday. As well as special guest lectures and talks. One that caught my eye was “Jonas Odell (6.30 Friday) you may recollect his distinctive mix of live action and animation from music videos by Franz Ferdinand (Take me out), U2 and The Hours, but who I remember from the short and quite disturbing, Never Like the First Time!

Anyway… allsorts going on here, Films, Workshops, Video gaming, Special Guests, Events, Kids Stuff…check it out… it’s happening now!
