Asbo Peepshow

ASBO Peepshow – a high octane threesome, who describe themselves as ‘three grown men, who really should know better, playing bed-wetting, power driven punk rock with gay abandon’ play the Nottingham’s Central venue tomorrow Friday (16th July).

Playing alongside Section 13, The Atoms and The Rutherfords, in the run up to releasing ‘Bring Back Smoking’ EP on August 3rd, ASBO – Marcus Jones, Des Ball and Jez Palmer (known as the Bo Peeps) certainly tear through some classic post punk numbers and promise a good time for all at the Central.

To try and describe their music would do them an injustice – it needs to be experienced live – however, I’ll risk a sharp slap around the head with bass guitar to say – if there was a ‘rock off’ between Snuff, Lemmy, Rage and Buzzcocks, these guys would win hands down.

Title track ‘Bring Back Smoking’ contains the fabulous lyric ‘you can have your restaurant, you can have your bus, you have your aeroplanes, leave the ^&^&^&^ pub for us – &^&^* health Nazis have your own way, com’on everybody light up in the pub today’.

Closer to home ‘Brown Line to Bulwell’ reflects their local roots and frustrations which they describe as an audible version of the Daily Mail, with more swearing.

Bring Back Smoking’ will be available from 3rd August 2010 on CD and via Digital Download from iTunes, Amazon, Tesco and numerous other purveyors of audio witchcraft.

  1. I wish they’d do a song about broken chairs

  2. I went to a gig of theirs and there were no chairs. The rumour was that they broke them with gay abandon, but I think they were just stacked out the back of the venue.
