“A picture speaks a thousand words. It records moments, interactions, atmosphere and beauty, and often represents something which cannot be said out loud, this is my main inspiration. It’s obvious that art and photography are inextricably linked, but as a relatively new photographer in a world of “established with 15 years experience” competition, I hope that a creative eye and a fresh perspective can separate me from the pack.  I have an artistic background and still enjoy working with a range of media but photography is my main passion, and I work hard on compiling a varied and full portfolio to show the background technicality of my work”.

These are the words of Sally Thurrell a young and up-coming photographer. If you look through her sites you will see some of the best parts of the North East, hopefully in a different way; you will also be met with her blog and the vast archive of her favourite shots. We have included four shots here. All beautiful moments captured by an intriguing eye.

Here at The Northern Line we are going to get Sally to cover some of our future projects. Her picture of Temenos is of particular interest to us as it has given us new ideas for a project we have lined up for next year. (More details when we disclose them to a waiting world.)

It seems there are a lot of photographers out there. Here at The Northern Line it is probably the artistic medium that has grabbed us the most and we are always looking for people to cover events or to just show us their latest work. The standard is very high and I’m sure you will agree that these photos are excellent. Although Sally is just starting out in the world of photography she has made a big impression on us and we hope to work with her in the future.
