“DO BELIEVE THE HYPE!!!!!!!!”

Just a few things to add to Daves great review of The Vaccines. Firstly a set list. Seeing as I managed to obtain one for myself and have not been tempted to get it on ebay!! Secondly, I did watch Said The Gramaphone and think their re-appearance needs to be acknowledged and thirdly the boys at The Kids are Solid Gold have got some wonderful things coming up in the next few months and you really do need to know about them!!!!

SAID THE GRAMAPHONE: These boys have been on here before but not for a long, long time. It must be over a year since we’ve seen them. They had a number of new songs on show tonight and they have grown both musically and in confidence. They have the feel of an early Creation band. Think Meat Whiplash, Biff Bang Pow, The Bodines etc as well as a bow to Creations biggest stars (pre-Oasis that is) The Jesus & Mary Chain. The boys still say little between songs and maybe need to get the vocals higher in the mix but their craft is improving and I think it is time that they looked beyond the 4 walls of Middlesbrough and started to get themselves out and about.

I can only agree with Dave in the main review. The Vaccines are fantastic. Hype & all. I was genuinely excited to see them. Even after 44 years I still love to see great bands in great venues playing great songs. I’m looking forward to a second dose of the boys at The Cluny in Newcastle on Sunday the 5th of December. I spoke to the boys both before and after the show and they are genuinely lovely lads. Don’t get all cynical because they’ve appeared from nowhere. Just love them……
