Roddy Frame: Middlesbrough Town Hall Tuesday 11th Oct 2011 Plus More
Middlesbrough get’s in the Frame…
After the huge announcement last week of Morrissey’s date in July, Middlesbrough Town Hall is very excited to announce another British singer-songwriting hero on their way to the venue. Aztec Camera’s Roddy Frame has announced a short U.K tour and the Town Hall will be welcoming the great Scot on Tues 11 Oct.
Frame shot to prominence in the 80s, at the tender age of 16, as the founding member of Glasgow’s Brit Award nominated Aztec Camera. The line up changed over the years but Frame remained at the centre, writing and producing all of the bands material. Roddy continued to perform under the famous moniker until 1996 when he decided to move forward under his solo name.
As Aztec Camera he released 6 albums, 5 of which were top 40 hits and charted in the U.S, and created some of the biggest hits of the 80s and 90s including Oblivious, Still On Fire, Walk Out to Winter, Good Morning Britain (featuring The Clash guitarist Mick Jones) and their highest charting hit, Somewhere in My Heart.
Since shedding the band name Frame has released a string of widespread critically acclaimed albums; including Surf in 2002, which was seen as a return to his best songwriting form. His track Small World was used as the theme music to the BBC TV comedy series, Early Doors. His shows regularly sell out across Europe and his performances at Glastonbury Festival have become stuff of legend.
‘One of the best British songwriters of the last 20 years.’ The Guardian
Frame will be heading to the Town Hall on Tuesday 11 October as part of a nine-date UK tour, which sees him perform two dates at London’s Bush Hall. The tour is the first time the Scot has been out with a full band in over 10 years – so it’s going to a night to remember! Expect many gorgeous songs from his catalogue – Pillar To Post, Killermont Street and How Men Are will surely feature.
Tickets go on sale Friday 20 May and can be purchased from Middlesbrough Town Hall on 01642 729729.
· Roddy Frame, Tues 11 Oct, 8pm, £16.50.
Roddy will also be playing other parts of The North.
