Single Out NOW….
Released on The Calico Print
Monday 18th July 2011 saw Vinyl Jacket release the follow up to their debut single ‘Painting Stations’ with the summer blast of ‘Koala’ released through The Calico Print.
Vinyl Jacket are a young five piece that hail from the small village of Wylam in Northumberland, removed from any influence of a ‘scene’ the band developed their own sound and created their unique brand of ‘Diesel-Pop’. Having only formed early 2010 the band headlined the BBC Introducing Stage at In the City and were featured on the Chris Moyles Breakfast Show for BBC Introducing week January 2011.
Their debut single Painting Stations (21.02.11) received airplay from Chris Moyles, Huw Stephens (track of the week), Steve Lamacq, Lauren Laverne, Tom Robinson and Capital FM as well as a ‘New Blood’ feature in Artrocker Magazine. They followed up the single by touring the UK with their arsenal of intelligent, intricate and inventive Indie-Pop songs as well as supporting Little Comets, playing Liverpool Sound City and opening the main stage at Evolution Festival.
The release is backed by B-side Broken Record, a live favourite and successful track in its own right having topped the Best of Myspace and Amazing Radio charts this year.
Vinyl Jacket pack more ideas in to one song than most bands do in an album, all perfectly crafted into a 3 minute burst of art-pop. They’ve been described as ‘Inventive Pop that gives Inventive Pop a good name’, ‘a Talking Heads inspired pop-mess’ and “A joyous blast of dancefloor-friendly art rock with scattershot drums, stuttering guitars and synth squeals’

‘The world may not have heard of them yet but, take it from me, Vinyl Jacket are a band at the very top of their game. One memorable radio record is all it needs and they’ll be all over the 6 Music playlist like a rash.’
Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music‘Infectious guitar licks and rich, repetitive choruses are ripe for a serious sing along. This is proper music.’
