Whats On In October And Beyond At York Duchess

Location

What’s on at The Duchess
Well there’s one huge event to tell you about this week that we’ll get straight on with, and that’s the imminent return of ADAM ANT. The King Of The Wild Frontier enjoyed himself so much when he visited in June, that he’s having an intimate warm up for his huge Academy tour here on Oct. 7th. His last show sold out in four hours, so don’t miss out this time and get them tickets bought while you can.

Another cracking show we’ve put on sale this morning is gorgeous Irish folkie LISA HANNIGAN. She’s been away for a couple of years after her Mercury Prize nominated, and platinum selling debut was released in 2009. She’s got a new record, recorded by the magical Joe Henry, due out in October. Lisa has come a long way since her role in Damien Rice’s band, her solo work is fab and this full band show promises to be wonderful.

Other bits announced this week include Manc indie boys PURESSENCE who return here in March, and super hip Oxford math-rockers THIS TOWN NEEDS GUNS who’ll play for us in Stereo in December. Keep checking our website for more shows as we’re constantly adding them.

The next week is an exceptionally busy one for us. In The Duchess we have revived indie rockers THE TWANG and one of the hardest working and most entertaining rock bands in the county, WARRIOR SOUL. We welcome hugely popular burlesque and cabaret providers COCQUETTE on Saturday when they’ll take over the venue for an evening of exotic dance and live music.

On top of that we’ve a brand new club night on Saturday, LOLLYPOP! A brand new night playing anything and everything pop. A mish mash of the old and new, the cool and uncool and the sexy and downright silly…one hit wonders, blasts from the past and Guilty Pleasures! Dirt cheap entry and liver busting drinks offers will ensure you enjoy yourselves.

Don’t forget or Rock and Metal disco on Friday night either, BLACKOUT is the original and best, accept no imitation and get your head-banging selves down from 11pm till 3am.

Elsewhere, we’ve VIVA BROTHER at Hull University tonight, electronic-indie hipsters IS TROPICAL in Stereo on Tuesday, and the devastatingly noisy SHADOWS CHASING GHOSTS and POLAR. in the same venue on Thursday. Something for everyone I think you’ll agree!

That’s all for now, over and out….
