The Hub… Darlington.

The greatest multi-room live venue Darlington has ever seen, bringing the best in club nights, live music, comedy and performance to your doorstep, from May 2012.”

Work on Darlington’s first ever multi-room live venue is well underway for the launch in May.

After 20 successful years, the team behind the legendary Middlesbrough Empire are expanding their reach to Darlington, with new venue The Hub: a multi-purpose, multi-room entertainment venue, which will bring the best in live music, comedy, performance and club nights to the people of Darlington.

Situated in the former Escapade/Mardi Gras site, the building is currently undergoing a complete structural and cosmetic refurbishment. As well as a brand new façade, the re-fit will see a full stage being installed in three of its rooms and will boast the biggest and best sound systems currently available. Each area will also feature LED lights, projection units and wooden checker board flooring, giving the whole of The Hub a modern, industrial look.

A brand new heating and air-conditioning system has also been installed and the ladies toilets are set to be the envy of the town with a massive 30 cubicles. The Hub will also feature a fully lit and fully decked out garden area for smokers.

Area 1 will be home to the main club nights at The Hub, as well as being the place to catch some of the biggest names in music performing live. The Empire’s track record in the live music field includes Ian Brown, Ellie Goulding, Tinie Tempah, and Scissor Sisters, while DJs like Pete Tong, Paul Van Dyk and Paul Oakenfold have graced the decks. The team are working behind the scenes to ensure that you can expect visits from this caliber of star to The Hub, and with a 14+ license for gig nights, younger fans won’t miss out when some of the big names roll into town.

Area 2 is where unsigned and up and coming artistes will perform, as well as being a room to act as a compliment to Area 1 on club nights. If Area 1 music isn’t your thing, you might find what you’re looking for in Area 2.

After the main launch in May, work will begin on Area 3 and our exclusive Snug Bar, which will open for late Summer. Area 3 will be a more intimate area with full retractable seating and will play host to comedy and acoustic performances, while the Snug Bar will be ideal for chatting, chilling and cocktails.

The Hub will also be available for private events and bookings and the plans for the venue can be seen on our website:

Managing Director Ashley Wem says “The whole team here is thrilled to be launching this project. We’re bringing a massive entertainment centre to Darlington – there’s been nothing like this here before. We’re putting a lot of effort and hours in to make The Hub the best nightclub and venue that it can be, and we’re excited about the good times we can bring to the people of Darlington.”

Any bands and performers who are interested in playing at The Hub can email Becky: [email protected] with a link to their music.
