Inspiral Carpets! I Am Kloot! Roddy Frame! All On The Same Bill!! Ramsbottom Festival Sept 14th-16th
I am Kloot and Roddy Frame join the Inspiral Carpets
in headlining Ramsbottom Festival 2012
We stumbled across this festival after receiving an email from The Inspiral Carpets saying they would be headlining the Friday night and when I visited their website (www.ramsbottomfestival.com) I almost fell off my sofa!!!
This has to be one of the best, if not the best line ups of all the festivals this year. The Inspirals, I am Kloot and Roddy Frame all together on one bill is enough for me but the supporting line up is even better, Admiral Fallow, Seth Lakeman, Roddy Woomble the list goes on and on!!!!
Friday 14th –Sunday 16th September 2012 www.ramsbottomfestival.com The Ramsbottom Festival has added two further headline acts to its September 2012 line up; I am Kloot will be bringing even more Mancunian prowess to the festival on Saturday 15th September and Roddy Frame, of Aztec Camera fame, headlines an enthralling day of folk; joining the likes of Thea Gilmore and Seth Lakeman on Sunday 16th September.
Notable for their twisted, witty lyrics, I Am Kloot formed in Manchester in 1999. Firmly rooted in Manchester’s musical character, their music is defined by lyrical prowess and bittersweet melodies. Their latest album Sky At Night was produced by Elbow’s Guy Garvey and Craig Potter and was shortlisted for the Mercury Music Prize in 2010.
Described as “the best Scottish wordsmith since Robert Burns”, Roddy Frame has been writing and performing poetic songs about love and life since the age of 16 when he founded Aztec Camera. His single Somewhere in My Heart from the 1987 Aztec Camera album Love was a massive hit, reaching number three in the UK Singles Chart. The song Small World from his latest album Surf is the theme tune to the BBC comedy Early Doors.
Fans of the Wonderstuff will no doubt want to see two members of the original line up, Miles Hunt and Erica Nockalls, who join Saturday’s other acts, the excellent Leisure Society, Admiral Fallow and the incorrigible Louis Barabbas & The Bedlam Six.
Aircav, described as “A four-way collision between folk, alternative rock, shoegaze and punk venom” joins the Janice Graham Band in supporting The Inspiral Carpets on the night of Friday 14th September.
Additional new acts announced for Sunday include Heidi Talbot, Kan, Rachel Sermanni and In Fear of Olive.
“We’re thrilled to have an eclectic line-up which will attract people to a great festival location,” says David Agnew, festival director. “We look forward to welcoming devout music fans as well as local audiences who have not experienced anything quite like it before. The line up is brilliant; full of fantastic music, comedy and family activities; it’s a friendly atmosphere and an affordable weekend party right on Manchester’s doorstep.”
This year the festival partners with Hey Manchester, Folk Rising, Funkademia and Bop Local and extends into comedy, poetry and a huge range of family fun to widen the appeal of this picturesque, unique music festival on the doorstep of Manchester.
The Ramsbottom Festival is a not-for-profit project managed by The Met, an arts charity and performance venue in Bury. As well as all the bands, Rammy has a fun-filled array of festival activities that make a great day out for all ages, from arts and music workshops and story telling to comedy, a funfair, a real ale tent, food and the impressively silent disco.
