Ripon, Yes That’s Right Ripon Has A New Music Venue-the Mad Hatters! And Look Who’s Coming Soon

Location

In the old Perk up coffee shop (on the market square) a new music venue/bar has just recently opened, The Mad Hatter’s, a venue the people of Ripon desperately needed. They have recently had local act The Conspirators and Leeds legend Micky P.Kerr who played in Ripon a few years ago when Dave Moss-Blundell ran regular music nights.

And I am pleased to say again that Dave is back and involved in some of the venues live events that are coming over the next few months.

First up is Gary Stewart, a scottish singersongwriter with a unique brand of folk/pop. He is best described as a cross between Paul Simon and Cat Stevens. Gary released his debut album “Boy cries wolf” last year which featured duets with Ellen Smith (Ellen and The Escapades) and Rosie Doonan (radio 2 folk award nominee) The album was played on national radio and championed by Radio 2’s Steve Lamacq.Gary has supported the likes of Laura Marling, James and Noah and The Whale and also graced the festival circuit at Glastonbury, Kendall Calling and Live at Leeds amongst others.

Gary will be playing at The Mad Hatters on Saturday 13th October (19.30-22.30)

Gary’s website is https://www.myspace.com/garystewartband

Support act on the night is Your Illuminations and they can be found at https://facebook.com/Yourilluminations

Next up on Saturday 3rd November is White Star Liner, fast rising stars from Brighton, supported by Ripon band Flat 69

White Star Liner visit Ripon as part of their UK tour to promote their debut album “The Years that Slid” (out Monday 29th October)

They are fresh from supporting cult US band Grandaddy on their reunion UK tour, the 4 piece band -with influences from Blur and Eels have created a kaleidoscopic and hugely melodic 12 track album. Across a confident and panoramic backdrop, White Star Liners’ love of the perfect pop song shines through.
