SUMDAY @ WESTGARTH SC
SUN 5th MAY, 5pm
TKASG have announced details of Sumday [One May], an intimate festival scheduled for Sunday 5th May at the Westgarth Social Club, Middlesbrough. The Teesside-based promoter has assembled an exciting range of established and emerging artists from around the UK and beyond for a show in a much-loved venue.

The main stage will be headlined by rousing Glasgow-based six-piece, Woodenbox, who have recently been adding the finishing touches to their second album which is scheduled for an autumn release date. The band has built up a loyal north east following since originally playing for TKASG back in 2009.

Second stage headliner, Washington Irving also needs no introduction to north east music fans and they slot in this appearance alongside a host of early Spring dates, ensuring that their burgeoning reputation continues to soar. They have just finished recording their debut long-player, Palomides, and fans will be hoping to hear some new material alongside the well-established set list favourites.

Joining them on the bill are emerging London five-piece and Heavenly Records signings, Charlie Boyer & the Voyeurs. The NYC art punk-influenced scenesters are enjoying a burgeoning reputation in the capital and have recently come off tour with label-mates, Toy. Melodic Oxford singer-songwriter Richard Walters arrives straight from his USA tour and he’ll be joined by the equally melodic Glasgow based duo, Fake Major on the downstairs stage. Exciting Australian outfit Deep Sea Arcade is confirmed to play the upstairs main stage having recently supported Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and the Charlatans. The line up is completed with the addition of well respected Teesside acts The Port Authority and gentle folk outfit General Sherman.

Andy Carr of TKASG explains, “We’ve managed to combine a mixture of well established and highly rated emerging talent to create the first ever Sumday, our bank holiday weekend festival of live music. This promises to quite some day and we’re very excited for it”.

Tickets for the event are available from www.thekidsaresolidgold.co.uk Ticketweb, Seetickets and locally at Steven James Guitars and the venue.

Doors are at 5.00pm.
Show starts 5.20pm.
