By Toutatis: Rebecca

Tiny Lights are delighted to unveil Rebecca, the brand new single from Teesside’s By Toutatis. The song can now be streamed and downloaded for free from: https://soundcloud.com/tiny-lights/by-toutatis-rebecca

Rebecca is the first public taster of By Toutatis’ debut album ‘The Songs We Sang to Death’, which is released on Monday September 2nd on 12”, CD and download.

The record, mastered by James Mottershead (Yann Tiersen, British Sea Power) calls to mind the likes of Tindersticks, The National and Tom Waits as the band graft subjects like The Black Death, Alfred Hitchcock and Victorian faith healers onto an album about separation and the road not taken versus the road trampled over with oblivious glee.

The Songs We Sang to Death was the subject of an Indiegogo campaign which took both band and label gloriously by surprise as rewards such as personalised storybook soundtracks and romantic meals cooked by the band meant that it raised almost double the original target.

By Toutatis have the following gigs confirmed (More to be added)

29th August: Middlesbrough Westgarth Social Club

31st August: Bingley Music Live

6th September: Sowerby Bridge Puzzle Hall

13th September: Durham Old Cinema Launderette

16th September: Middlesbrough Reference Library

‘Joyously out of step with anyone else playing in the North East of England at the moment, their music is the kind of bombastic olde-worlde folk similar to what The Decemberists used to make’ – Drowned in Sound

‘Willfully different and with talent to spare, By Toutatis are the kind of distinctive band that needs to be celebrated more often’ – Let’s Get Cynical

‘Unique and intriguing, an almost medieval sound’ – Backs to the Wall
