Newman Fest 2015

Newman Fest 2015 is a charity music festival set up to raise money for a vital local charity, The Newman Holiday Trust, providing desperately needed respite care for children with disabilities from across the North East. The festival was spurred on by a funding crisis threatening the future of the charity.

Newman Fest 2015 will be held at Middlesbrough’s Westgarth Social Club on Saturday August 29th, with an impressive line up of acts already signed up to take part, including:

Serinette, RJ Feathers Band, General Sherman, Dressed Like Wolves amongst the confirmed acts.

The Newman Holiday Trust has helped hundreds of Middlesbrough children with special
needs over more than 30 years. Volunteers taking part each year include teachers, nurses, doctors and physiotherapists. These volunteers fascilitate participation in a wide range of activities such as archery, canoeing, days out to theme parks; experiences that the children would not normally be able to have, without the specialised support that the Newman Holiday Trust offers. This gives the children the chance to experience childhood to the fullest, even if that’s just for one week a year.

There will be a raffle held, with prizes including Cattle and Cane’s Teesside University gig tickets, a signed copy of Clean Cut Kid’s debut single, a meal at the Crathorne Arms and Sunday dinner for four at either the Star or O’Connells.

Anyone wearing a valid festival wristband can get 10% off food orders at The Star throughout the festival. The event will run from 1pm to 11pm.

Tickets are £8 from the venue, or from Al Bury at [email protected] or

Established in 1981, the Newman Holiday Trust is an entirely voluntary organisation, ensuring that every penny raised goes directly towards a child’s holiday. Thanks to the kind donations of our sponsors, who have helped the cover the costs of the event overheads, we can also gladly say that all money spent on the festival tickets will go straight towards the work the charity does.

A big thanks to the sponsors of Newman Fest 2015, including:
Anderson Barrowcliff accountants, Boyes stores, The Crathorne Arms, Fairfield Industries, O’Connels and The Star. Thanks also to The Kids Are Solid Gold for their support and The Westgarth Social Club for granting use of their premises, free of charge.

The Middlesbrough and Teesside Philanthropic Foundation and Finlay Cooper Fund have already made generous donations to help ensure that this year’s holiday to Ampleforth, on August 22nd, goes ahead. Newman Fest 2015 goes towards helping ensure future holidays.
