Down To The Woods, the most exciting newcomer on the UK’s festival calendar, have announced US indie rockers We Are Scientists as the latest additions to the inaugural boutique festival in Co. Durham.

The artists join legendary Saturday headliners Primal Scream and bass juggernauts Chase & Status on Sunday at the 10,000 capacity festival, held in the beautiful grounds of Hardwick Hall, Sedgefield from August 13th – 14th.

Featuring some of the biggest names in music, Down To The Woods is also the perfect chance for music fans in the North East to discover some of the most exciting new artists around today. Set in a glorious landscape of gardens, forest and countryside beside a huge ornamental lake, it’s a unique setting to witness a hugely diverse contemporary line-up.

Joining Primal Scream on the festival’s main stage ‘The Grand Arcadia’ on Saturday are Echo & The Bunnymen, Clean Cut Kid, The Selecter, Vant, The Jacques, Lucy Spraggan, Hayley McKay and a very Special Guest still to be announced. On Sunday Catfish and the Bottlemen and We Are Scientists join headliners Chase And Status, alongside Kwabs, Age Of L.U.N.A, Bleanavon, Hidden Charms and more.

The ‘Foxes Folly’ stage, located near the Roman-esque secret garden is headlined on Saturday by The Sunshine Underground and on Sunday by Peter Hook & The Light. Playing host to 20 acts over the weekend it features a wide array of upcoming talent including the likes of Kagoule, Kloe, Holy Esque, Neon Waltz and Tempesst.

Offering much more than just a stellar music line up, Down To The Woods also features top class comedy acts on the festival’s third stage, the ‘Badgers Den’. Acclaimed stand up comedians Howard Read and Mike Wilkinson appear alongside leading North East natives Lee Kyle and Cal Halbert.

In the evening the ‘Badgers Den’ becomes the perfect dance venue, with a full line-up of DJs bringing the beat to the party masses. Saturday features Joey Negro, Liam Carty, Michael Johnson, Rob Oxley, Adam Fraser and Duncan Sheehan on the decks. Sunday sees sets from Richy Ahmed, Denney, Jeremy Healy, James Burton, Peter Wharrier and Appo.

Dotted throughout the site, Down To The Woods has a whole host of further attractions including a tempting array of culinary delights from around the world, a fantastic family-friendly fun fair, a kids playground and face-painting, plus the adult-only pleasures of the fabulous Gin Palace, Champagne Bar and the quintessentially British Pimms Garden alongside various craft beer stalls.

Down To The Woods is the only festival of its size and calibre in north-east England. Weekend tickets for Down To The Woods are priced at £99 per adult, £28 for young people aged 13 – 16 and £15 for children aged 3 – 12. Day tickets are available and there are also boutique camping and special ‘Gold Ticket’ VIP options.
