HIP HOP AND GOSPEL COME TOGETHER TO REACH OUT TO HEMLINGTON COMMUNITY (MIDDLESBROUGH)

Hip Hop And Gospel Come Together To Reach Out To Hemlington Community (middlesbrough)

The Sola Cafe, St Timothy’s church in Hemlington and Middlesbrough promoters Joint Effort Productions have teamed up to bring a unique event to Middlesbrough’s Hemlington estate on June 9th. ‘Gospel Hip Hop’ will arrive all the way from the USA for this special event in the form of ‘The Collective’. The Collective are a collaborative group including US Gospel Hip Hop artists Timothy Brindle, Zae De Blacksmith, and Stephen The Levite who are all signed to the Lamp Mode Recordings label in the US. Their music is like ’90’s hip-hop’ but with Gospel lyrics and rhymes. Each individual artist in the group are well known in Gospel Hip-Hop and church circles, excitement is building around their visit to Middlesbrough. They are embarking on their second European tour and the organisers at St Timothy’s timed their approach perfectly catching them just at the start of their booking process. Their tour takes them to dates in Middlesbrough, Cork, Poland and Paris

Adam Scholes from Sola Cafe and St Timothy’s church commented “Myself and the team at St Timothys have been working very hard with the Hemlington community. We thought we would give a bit back whilst strengthening relationships through a free live music event. The artists we have captured are top quality and we are all excited. We are delighted to be working with local promoters Joint Effort Productions on this one and it is set to be an epic gig.”

The Collective are supported by local Gospel group ‘The Way’ who consist of a good selection of local musicians including local favourites Bre Musiq and Rikki Doolan. Also performing is Newcastle’s very own Gospel Hip Hop artist Jonny Mattimore. His latest release ‘My King’ has been performing well on Itunes downloads and he completes the evenings live artists. Guest speaker is Ian Williamson founder of ‘Sixtyeightfive’ local charity. The event begins at 6pm and will finish around 9pm. It is free entry and ages 11+ aiming to bring positive live music to the heart of the estate. Parking is available close to the church but organisers are encouraging people with cars to arrive early.
