Rollerderby Pop-up Shop To Open In Middlesbrough On May Bank Holiday

Middlesbrough is a butch town, built on industry and football, but on the last bank holiday in May, women on wheels are taking over the town centre, as part of the ‘We Are Open’ pop-up shop project.

The Middlesbrough Milk Rollers, the North East’s first roller derby league, are hosting ‘Rollerderby saved my soul – spills, thrills and cupcakes’ -4 days of art installations, skating demos, skate maintenance and boutfit customisation workshops and screenings of derby footage and 2 super special films.

Skaters from the UK’s 30 plus leagues are contributing to the project and joining in over the weekend– which encompasses a retrospective look at rollerderby in the US, whilst looking forward at the women and men who are helping UK rollerderby grow at a staggering rate.

And you are invited! Find out more  here.
