Whitley Bay Film Festival 2010 (update)

Bit of an update for anyone interested in attending Whitley Bay’s first ever Film Festival… all this stuff we understand has been added/confirmed in the last week;

Sat 21st August

Movie Memorabilia Exhibition, venue now confirmed at the shiny new Links Arts Gallery on the… err… Links.  Headlining act “Jaws on the Beach”, is now confirmed… err… On the Beach, access by Watts Slope beside the Boardwalk Café.

Sun 22nd August

Archive Seaside Footage, with afternoon tea at the Trojan Rooms. Followed by 1920’s silent horror classic, the very wonderful “Nosferatu”, screened to a contemporary, live soundtrack.

Mon 23rd August

3–5pm. Geordinho Fitba Filum,“Goal” and 8-10.30pm – “The Commitments.” Both tributes to the great screenwriting abilities of Whitley Bay’s own Likely Lad, Mr Ian La Frenais.

Tues 24th August

1 – 4pm.  A second opportunity to view the vintage footage of Whitley Bay from 1912 – 1970… (wha??? 1970 vintage??  cheeky $*%*’s!!) …anyway that’s on at… The Age Concern Centre, 62-64 Park Road, Whitley Bay?!?! (…not sure how I feel about that.!!)

3-5pm. Children’s Choice – picked by Cullercoats Primary School – tickets free !!!– “Bugsy Malone” at the Trojan Rooms.

Wed 25th August

8- late – Hip Hop night. With a first showing of a new music video by The Click

Thurs 26th August

1-3pm. Community film premieres

7 – late. – National and Regional film makers shorts, (presumably that’s short films and not the cut-off trouser things), submissions open now, closing date for films 9th August.
