Nowhere Boy. Advance Viewing

The much anticipated “Nowhere Boy”, the biopic of John Lennon’s teenage years in 1950’s Liverpool, will go on general release on Boxing Day 2009, however, there is a chance to see it before then, if your pockets are deep enough, as the film will have an advance viewing, in Liverpool’s Odeon Cinema on Monday 23rd November, as part of a charity gala event, on behalf of the Alder Hey, children’s hospital “imagine” appeal. You can reserve tickets here.

There’s already been loads written about this film, considering it was only premièred at the back end of October at the London Film Festival. The story comes from John’s half sister, Julia Bairds’ 2007 book “Imagine This: Growing Up With My Brother John Lennon.” was scripted by Matt Greenhalgh (Control) and is directed by Sam Taylor-Wood… Yes!!! That Sam Taylor-Wood! The conceptual artist who photographs people falling off chairs and who once filmed David Beckham sleeping. Who… by the way… has just announced, that she’s going to marry Aaron Johnson.. (who?) only the 19 year old guy playing the Lennon lead in the movie.

Well before this turns into a gossip column I’ll leave it at that. Suffice it to say, there’s loads of column inches written about this film already, with over protective, Beatles fans arguing about historical inaccuracies and claims of plagiarism, and I’m sure after it’s general release there’ll be even more hot debate. In the mean time, to give you a taster you can watch the official trailer here.

Enjoy.
