You Me At Six arrived in Newcastle on their last day of the Hold Me Down extended tour which seen them play only a couple of venues such as Edinburgh and Cardiff. The Surrey boys who were first established in 2007 , celebrated their success from last year in which they reached No. 5 in the UK album chart with their album Hold Me Down, and also to promote their new collaboration with hip-hop star Chiddy Bang.

Not Advised kicked off the evening with an emphatic performance, gearing up the crowd for the pop-rockers and also fellow performers Canterbury. Not Advised are due to play the O2 Academy 2 Newcastle  on the 19th February, so if your into pounding drum beats and lyrics to make you sing from the bottom of your lungs…get yourself there!

Canterbury entered the stage with an already sterling reputation as a band who have played various music festivals, including Slam Dunk Festival in Leeds. Raging guitar solos and stage shenanigans caused the whole venue to go up in flames and had the whole floor bouncing along to their dancey-punk-rock combination. A great band with a following, and are definately a one to watch out for in the future.

Now onto the main event…where do i start. Screaming girls echoed throughout as lead singer Josh Franceschi walked out on-stage, only to be greeted by the bands most recogniseable songs “Save it for the Bedroom”. The band put the crowd through their paces by mixing both old and new tracks together in the set list which brought many fans to their knees praying for more. 3/4s of the way through, the band turned down the amplifiers and switched to an acoustic session, in which they played “You’ve made your bed” and ballad, “Always Attract”. The band finished off the original set list with old favourite “The Rumour” before appearing again to play crowd pleasers “Stay With Me”, “Liquid Confidence” and “Underdog” before finally leaving the stage and heading back to the studio to work on album number 3.

All in all, a terrific gig with a great atmosphere and sense of understanding between both the band and the crowd. You Me At Six will be hitting the road again in the summer to support major punk rock band Blink 182 at the Newcastle Metro Radio Arena, so if you enjoyed their presence on Sunday, be sure not to miss out…but hurry, tickets are selling fast
