Morrissey: Tour Dates 2011

“Monday, Bridlington, where else would you be?” (Morrissey as he walked on stage at Bridlington Spa on Monday 6th September 2004)

Here at The Northern Line we have a great love for Morrissey and The Smiths. So much so that we were planning a whole festival around the 25th anniversary of the release of The Queen is Dead. Yes, on June the 16th this year it will be 25 years to the day since the release of the greatest album ever. Due to unforseen circumstances we have had to postpone this festival till later in the year, basically in June there are too many other festivals to compete with. The bands we wanted were unavailable. So instead of accepting second best we decided to stage this event in October/November when there is less competition. As well as bands we are also planning an exhibition of Smiths memoribilia. Unreleased sleeves, rare records and other great Smiths/Moz items.

As it turns out it is just as well we postponed our silver jubilee celebrations as the great man himself has decided to grace us with his presence in June. And it cannot just be a coincidence that he will be here in the North of Britain on the very day of the anniversary. As usual this tour takes in places that most bands have never even heard of; Hawick anyone? Dunoon??? Where is Dunoon??? I hear you cry. Now in recent years Moz has made a thing of playing out of the way places. I have seen him in Bridlington, see above, Whitehaven and Llandudno. As well as the usual Manchesters, Leeds, Newcastle etc. In fact I think I’ve seen the great man over 17 times. Not including with The Smiths. Fan or stalker?? Anyway I’m off to the aforementioned Hawick as well as York and Bradford. 3 more times to add to the total. I suggest you do the same. Because as well as the 25th anniversary of the Queen is Dead he also has a greatest hits out in April (see sleeve below). So expect a set full of greats from these two albums. As he has no new material (that I know of) it could well be a greatest hits of the greatest hits. And, And, how many more times will he tour? I saw him on his 50th birthday at the Apollo in Manchester in 2009 so by my reckoning he is 52. He can’t go on forever. So without further ado. Here are the dates;

Wednesday 15th June Perth City Hall

Friday 17th June Inverness Ironworks

Saturday 18th June Dunoon Queens Hall

Monday 20th June Dunfermline Alhambra Theater

Tuesday 21st June Hawick City Hall

Friday 24th June Grimsby Auditorium
