Bandstand: Saturday 2nd April 2011 Preview

Ninjas, nautics and a healthy dose of nepenthe.

The next big Bandstand show in The Crown takes place on Saturday April 2nd. Bringing together another eclectic mix of local talents to raise the roof on a Spring Saturday night in Middlesbrough.

As well as the unmistakable Rick Betamax & friends – bringing games, laughs and carnage to the stage – we’re also showcasing some of the town’s finest acts. First up we have Teesside’s beautiful pop princess Sarah Proctor. Followed by one Middlesbrough’s hidden gems: Port Authority who have just released their first EP titled 91 South Street.

Then, capes, bear outfits, rap and comedy. A combination that only Raptastic (and maybe Rick Betamax) can pull off. High energy and highly entertaining, this comedy duo are a must see.

And, can you believe there’s more? The final roof raiser on your April Bandstand is a young band whose professionalism and talent are a compliment to Middlesbrough and their manager Pete Bell. The band is 3 Foot Ninja and they are sure to send off April’s Bandstand with a bang.

Quotations taken from Geoff Spence’s article ‘Believe The Hype’.

“Loved the Premiership Darts style intros for the bands”

“All the variety stuff was good, Play Your Cards Right (better for cocking it up) and all the getting members of the audience on stage. Not sure about the scantily clad young ladies, more Daily Star than Burlesque for me.”

“It was a Boro night put on by Boro people for Boro people. I felt part of it and proud of our town.”
