Athletes In Paris: Just Decline
Firstly, before I hand you over to their press release go to The Northern Lines radio station and find Borrowed Time. This was Athletes in Paris’s last single. If that wets your whistle then go download the new one. Details here……….
‘Athletes In Paris’, the North East’s renowned pop-makers have announced that their new song
single ‘Just Decline’ will be released on 09.05.11. as a free download via the bands web-page’s.
The band are currently riding high from the acclaim of their debut single ‘Borrowed Time’ as
featured on numerous radio stations including XFM, BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio and in
multiple blogs around the world.
Already previews of ‘Just Decline’ have lauded the song and band very favourably, Northern
England’s Designer Magazine described it as an “Awesome guitar pop tune -sounds like
Madonna’s “Holiday” played by a primetime Britpop band” whilst Barry Hyde of The
FutureHeads has already stated that they have“A sound that is at odds with the
surroundings of Sunderland, a breath of fresh air in the blustery north.”
‘Athletes In Paris’ say that whether any of the surrounding hyperbole about them matters or not is
irrelevant because ‘Just Decline’ should be judged on its own merit. It is a song of the time right
now, written about some of the things that matter to the young people today, like having sex too
many times with the same person. Musically it’s enough to send your body into multiple directions
with sing-a-long vocals lines that are heartfelt but authoritative as well as body popping grooves
that lead to pounding bounce along chorus’s delivered in ‘funky dance-pop’ aplomb.
“Danceable, energetic and all too human, three very important aspects of modern day
indie music.” – Crack in The Road
The band have a busy summer ahead of them with another single release planned, shows across
the UK including upcoming appearances at Brightons ‘The Great Escape” festival alongside
‘Friendly Fires’ & ‘DJ Shadow’, Hexhams ‘Corbridge Festival’ and Newcastle’s ‘Evolution Emerging’
festival.
