Minotaurs consists of Tom Devlin, Sarah Farrell-Forster, Andrew Forster, Peter Hall, Daniel Rose-Troup and Mick Ross (also lead guitarist in Frankie and the Heartstrings.)
Together they make music that The Guardian Newspaper describes as “sumptuous, melodic and understated folk-pop”. Since 2007 the band have released a spattering of Ep’s and live outings have been equally as scarce.
Whilst they share a guitarist and a postcode with the Heartstrings, there is a darker heart to the songwriting of Minotaurs
Belle and Sebastian, Fairport Convention and even Prefab Sprout have been used as reference points and whilst undeniably British in sound, Minotaurs are that rare thing; a band that sound more like themselves than anyone else.
Cottage Industries will finally be releasing their debut album ‘Eat yr Hate’ on 5th September 2011. Recorded in deepest Northumberland last year with Woodpigeon producer, Arran Fisher the album was mixed in Canada and also mastered by Arcade Fire engineer Ryan Morey.
The record has recently been playlisted by the Guardian and advance copies have proved to be somewhat of a sleeper hit amongst music blogs and critics. A rare live outing for the band is scheduled in September to launch the album.

“Sumptuous, melodic, and understated folk-pop. When the voices of singers Andrew Forster and Sarah Farrell interlock, Minotaurs sound as if they could be capable of something special.”
Michael Hann – The Guardian
“ Minotaurs were never likely to be pigeonholed as just another guitar band. Bursting out of South Shields, the seaside town more famed for Saturday night scuffles than finely crafted mini-epics, they bring a mix of immaculate vocals, beautifully arranged songs and heartbreaking narratives that give an entirely new twist to the art form making them one of the most exciting bands around today.”
Rebecca Robinson – NME
‘’Sunshine fried folk-pop from the seaside resort of South Shields, combining echoes of the Flaming Lips, Love and the Beta Band – Minotaurs are quite simply brilliant’’
James Mcmahon – NME
“The intergender vocal pairing of Sarah Farrell and Andrew Forster trade harmonies that sinks their soft claws into your cerebrum, as infectious and persistent as Forster’s Tyneside accent is thick.”
Drowned In Sound
“ Moodily beautiful and eclectic indie folk stylings. I am mindlessly excited about this band”
