St. Patricks Day “spoilt For Choice!!!!”

This Saturday (March 17th) as I am sure you are aware is St Patricks day. The day when people pretend to like Guiness and pretend to hail from the Emerald Isle. It also promises to be a great night for music in the Teesside area. With not one, not two but three great gigs on across the region. We here at the Northern Line are hoping to make it to two gigs in one night. First time we have done that in a long time. Actually the last time I remember was travelling to Edinburgh to see Tallulah Gosh and then finding out that the Membranes were playing later in the night at another venue. This was about 1987 so it is not something we make a habit of. The two gigs we are planning to attend are…….

WILDCATS OF KILKENNY and CATTLE & CANE at The Town Hall, Middlesbrough.

These two local giants have joined forces to make it a St Paddys night to remember. Expect lots of alcohol, lots of jigging around and a great night. Tickets have been selling like hot cakes so you had better be quick or you will miss what promises to be a fantastic night.

This years Vaccines, the next big thing, the most hyped band since….. since the last most hyped band. But they deserve the hype. Great tunes, great look, sharp suits and a front man who is up there with the great front men!!! A bit Maximo Park, a bit Vaccines with the look of The Godfathers (formerly The Sid Preseley Experience, remember them???) Get yourself along to witness the new kids on the block.

Now whilst we are enjoying ourselves in Middlesbrough one of our favourites will be launching their debut E.P. in Stockton. Sorry we cannot get there but hopefully a lot of you will. Full details below……

RANDY AND THE HANDSTAND BAND E.P Launch
Teesside’s favourite cheeky chappies Randy and The Handstand Band celebrate the launch of their debut E.P Demon In Disguise, this Saturday (17 March) at The Georgian Theatre, Stockton.
The five young guns have come a long way in a short space of time; from being one of the first bands on KU Bar’s stage at Stockton Calling last year to being the top billed local act on the biggest stage in ARC at this years event.
The band have gained an impressive local following, winning crowds over with infectious melodies and heavy bass lines that have earned them comparisons to bands such as the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Blur and The Sunshine Underground.
Randy have played alongside a string of top acts such as Cast, Maximo Park, Sound of Guns, Little Comets, Frankie & The Heartstrings, The Chapman Family, Cattle and Cane and Young Rebel Set to name but a few.
As well as Stockton Calling the five-piece played Intro Festival and the main stage at Stockton Weekender and filling venues left, right and centre.
It is sure to be a foot-stomper of a night as the lads always provide with their energetic brand of rip-roaring indie rock.
Support comes in the shape of Sister Rose, The Hamlets and The Panoramic, yet more proof of the abundance of youthful talent currently gracing Teesside.
