Galtres Festival- The Show Will Go On!!
“The Show WILL Go On!”
Galtres Festival organisers have promised their event will go ahead, regardless of the weather. They’re fully prepared for whatever the heavens throw at them, with a load of carefully planned contingency measures including trackway, tonnes of straw, new parking areas, and shiny new wellington boots.
“We’re made of tougher stuff than some of those poncy festival organisers who scarper at the first sight of a cloud. We’ve spent the last 12 months putting together the most fantastic programme of music, theatre, comedy, cabaret and fun stuff – and it would be criminal not to let it go ahead,” barked festival organiser James Houston.
“Besides,” added James, whispering this time, “we all know it’s going to be proper sunny in August. Secretly, I’m really only worried that the Wedge Wellies stall won’t do much trade. … unless they sell fancy flip flops too.”
Dragons and knights will be parading through this year’s Galtres festival, with a jousting tournament and medieval village adding to the merriment, and Adam Ant playing on the Duke Stage, along with Buzzcocks, ASH, Ocean Colour Scene, Guillemots, Billy Bragg, and Seth Lakeman.
And one hundred fine Yorkshire beers and ciders – see here for complete beer line-up!:
And a few thousand weather-defiant revellers who don’t give a flying flip what the weather does.
Only eight years old, Galtres Festival is now one of the best family festivals in the country. Combining seven stages of music and cabaret, and a fantastic line-up of the best Yorkshire talent on the ‘Leeds’ and ‘Hull’ stages.
One of the highlights is the excellent local produce catering (from Whitby Scampi to Yorkshire Puds) with not a hot dog anywhere in sight!
And all set in a beautiful rural setting overlooking the Vale of York.
One of the best festival weekends of the year, and one of the best priced too with family weekend tickets just £250 or family day tickets £160 (2 adults plus three children aged 5-15 – under 5s free).
Some modern interpretations of the York Mystery Plays will be there too, along with members of the York Theatre Royal’s Youth Theatre who will be performing ‘Small Fry’ by Neil Duffield – 30 minutes of dragon-themed fun!
SO WHAT ARE YOU MISERABLE LOT WAITING FOR THEN……? GET YOURSELF THERE!!! TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE NOW AT www.galtresfestival.org.uk BE QUICK!
