HARTLEPOOL HITS THE BIG ONE THIS SUMMER

Local music event organisers and promoters Bonus Grooves Ents and rockpig. are back doing their thing again with the Summer Big One!, a one-day festival in aid of Hartlepool & District Hospice on Saturday 21st July.

The Summer Big One! will take place over three venues in the Church Square area of Hartlepool, which is fast becoming known locally as the town’s ‘music quarter’, with both acoustic and full-band stages. Hartlepool’s dedicated music venue The Studio, together with The Clarendon and Flix Movie Café will all be host to the cream of the town’s talent for this full day of musical delights with more than twenty acts playing, and all for a very worthy cause. The event is also supported by local radio station 102.4 Radio Hartlepool. Headline acts will include firm favourites Danny’s House, Mercedes, The Woven Project, and, Palace. Other popular bands include The Broken Broadcast, Atlantic in Transit, Lost State of Dance, and, The White Negroes.

All of the bands performing are of Hartlepool origin, and there will be the opportunity for new acoustic acts to play also, Brian Barnes of Bonus Grooves Ents said, “Over the day we will be showcasing new acoustic talent, together with stripped-back acoustic sets by some of the main bands, on the Flix Movie Cafe stage…so we are encouraging aspiring performers to get in touch if they would like to play”. Festival goers will hear many genres, from pop, folk, rock…and practically anything in-between from the many unique and talented acts performing. All the bands featured are pleased to be supporting their local Hospice at this event, with many of the acts also been chosen to play at notable festivals around the country this year such as, Willowman, Stockton Weekender, and, Greenman. Amanda Gallagher of rockpig. said, “this is set to be a fantastic event with some superb local talent playing, and will hopefully raise much needed funds for the wonderful work that’s carried out by Hartlepool & District Hospice”.

Entry to the festival is just £5 per person and advance tickets can be purchased from any of the participating venues, hospice shops or online at http://www.wegottickets.com/or alternatively you can pay on the day. You will be provided with an event wristband, which allows you all-day access to all three venues.

Doors open at 2.00pm at all venues. The Clarendon & The Studio are on Tower Street, and Flix Movie Café is on Church Square, Hartlepool.
